Welcome to GT Invest, Delfien

16.08.2021

Delfien De Backer was appointed to the position of Management Assistant at GT Invest in August 2021. She is replacing Anne-Sophie Derriks, who is due to assume a new role within GT Invest. With her wealth of experience, drive, discretion and punctual nature, Delfien has the perfect credentials for supporting Miek Geerardyn and Steve Tourlouse in their daily activities. Delfien introduces herself below!

What appealed to you about the job opening at GT Invest?

After almost 7 years working for the same employer within the property sector, I was ready for a new challenge. And preferably in a close-knit team within a company that rewards ambition. The can-do mentality of Miek, Steve and by extension the entire GT Invest team instantly appealed. I was convinced that I’d be able to take the next challenging steps in my future career, together with this team. As for the job content: I was already familiar with the Management Assistant role, and knew that no day would be the same. The different portfolio companies ensure even greater variety, which is what I like most about my job!

What are your main responsibilities?

The job is extremely wide-ranging and can best be summarised as generally relieving the workload of the Business Managers and the rest of the team. This frees up their time, giving them the bandwidth to make decisions and consequently achieve the necessary growth within GT Invest and its portfolio companies. Thanks to my experience, I now know how I can truly serve the Business Managers in my role as Management Assistant and how I can make a difference through even the smallest of details. Making sure that you're prepared for every eventuality is one example."

I free up time for Miek, Steve and the rest of the team, giving them the bandwidth to take important decisions and consequently contribute to the growth of GT Invest and its portfolio companies.

Delfien De Backer, Management Assistant

What does your typical working day involve?

My first priority of the day is verifying that Miek and Steve have everything they require to complete their working day. I then update my own administration for all projects that are currently in progress. The Management Assistant role ensures that you’re kept constantly busy with a variety of daily tasks: from agenda management and monitoring emails to taking meeting minutes. I usually work in the GT Invest office, but can also occasionally be found at one of our portfolio companies.

And what about your free time?

A few years ago, we bought an old farm, which we have since rebuilt using traditional building methods and recycled materials. We’re currently in the process of rebuilding the accompanying barn. We spend a significant amount of time sourcing authentic materials, both for the structural work and the interior. In short, a major project that’s since become our passion.

Good luck at GT Invest, Delfien!
